Recipients
The Gulf Coast Athletic Club honored Erin McKee and Brandon Davis as the first Gulf Shores High School Scholar Athletes of the season at the Club’s Sept 24th meeting.

Erin McKee is an active student at Gulf Shores High School where she maintains a 4.08 GPA
with a 24 ACT score. She is an “A” Honor Roll member for Fall 2009, Spring 2010 and Spring
2012; an “A/B” Honor Roll member for Fall 2010, Spring 2011, and Fall 2011. She is a member
of the National Honor Society, Juniorettes, Diversity Club, LEO Club, Fellowship of Christian
Athletes, GSHS Choir for 2009-2012, GSHS Yearbook Staff, and GSHS Dance Committee for
2009-2012. She is also a member of the Orange Beach United Methodist Youth Group.

Erin has played volleyball since 2007 and has been a varsity player for GSHS since 2009. Her
achievements and recognitions include:

Erin plans to attend a four-year college and pursue a degree in either Marriage and Family
Therapy or Graphic Design.
Erin McKee and Brandon Davis
Brandon Davis is a National Honor Society member and ranks 7th in his class with a 4.1 GPA and an ACT score of 22. He currently holds Scholarship offers from more than one school but is leaving his options open at this time while looking at several other schools. He is planning to attend college on a baseball scholarship while pursuing his degree in one of his academic interests.

Brandon plays multiple sports but considers baseball his first love. His accomplishments and

Brandon is active in his community where he currently volunteers to read to Orange Beach Elementary 3rd Grade Class and was on a recent mission trip to Hoboken, NJ. He is a Member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, attends Liberty Church, and is a member of Loveless Park Baptist Church. His hobbies include hunting, fishing, and golf.

Brandon says “God is always first in my life and I give him all the praise and glory for everything that happens. I would like to thank my school counselors, my coaches, my parents and my close friends for giving me the opportunity to be where I am now. “

Jessica Chavez and Daniel LaBorde
The Gulf Coast Athletic Club honored Gulf Shores High School senior Scholar Athletes Jessica Chavez and Daniel LaBorde at the Clubs Oct. 22, 2012, meeting.  With this recognition, both Jessica and Daniel now qualify for the scholarships presented by GCAC to deserving Gulf Shores High School Scholar Athletes at the end of this school year.
 
Jessica Chavez is an active student at Gulf Shores High School where she has been on the A-B Honor Roll throughout her high school career and currently maintains a 3.96 GPA while taking Advanced Placement classes.  She has an ACT score of 22 and is ranked 13th in her class.  She is a member of the National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Juniorettes, Pure Club, active in Friends of Exceptional Children, Key Club, and an officer in her class and Student Government.

Jessica is captain of the varsity soccer team which was Area Champs for 2012 and received the Best Forward award for 2012.  She also plays varsity volleyball and was named All Tournament Player in 2011.  She is a coach and player for the Pleasure Island Volleyball Club and plays Beach Volleyball.

Jessica is an active member of her church, St. Thomas by the Sea, and is a volunteer for the Alabama Free Clinic. 

Jessica plans to pursue a degree in Veterinary Medicine and ultimately, wants to open her own practice.  She hopes to attend Auburn University but is keeping her options open at this time.



Daniel LaBorde excels in all sports including football, basketball, and track.  He is a 3 year letterman in football, was All County all 3 years, and team captain for 2 years.  He started both on defense as a cornerback and offence as a running back his senior year.  He is a 4 year letterman in basketball, 3 time Defensive Player of the Year, 2 time All County, and team captain for 3 years.   He also was All County in track and placed 7th in the state in 800m track his sophomore year

Daniel is a member of Future Business Leaders of America, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, was Freshman class President and Homecoming King nominee.  Daniel volunteers to read to 6th graders at Orange Beach Elementary, is a Youth leader at Liberty Church and has been on a Mission trip to Aguascalientes, Mexico.

Daniel plans to pursue an education degree with a major in kinesiology at either Millsaps University, where he may play football, or the University of Alabama.  Daniel says, “My hopes are to lead young people in a positive way whether it be through sports, education, or faith.”

The Gulf Coast Athletic Club honored Lauren Tait and Brooks Mason as the Gulf Shores High School Scholar Athletes at the Club’s Nov. 19th meeting.  
With this recognition, both Lauren and Brooks now qualify for the scholarships presented by GCAC to deserving Gulf Shores High School Scholar Athletes at the end of this school year.

Lauren Tait is an active student at Gulf Shores High School where she maintains a 3.88 GPA and has a 24 ACT score. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Juniorettes, a member and officer in the Student Government Association, a class officer, and many other activities.

Lauren has played volleyball and soccer since 2007 and has been a varsity player for GSHS in both sports since 2009. Her achievements and recognitions include:

Lauren credits her drive to succeed in all activities to her involvement in sports. 

Lauren plans to attend a four-year university and pursue a degree in Nursing and then possibly continue her education in medical school to become a pediatrician or nurse practitioner.

Brooks Mason maintains a 3.87 GPA while enrolled in Honors Classes and has a 25 ACT score. He is ranked 20th in his class of 187 students. Brooks is a member of the National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Interact Club, Friends of Exceptional Children, Teens Against Animal Cruelty, and is a Juniorettes Sweetheart.

Brooks plays both baseball and football at Gulf Shores High School. His honors and achievements include:

Brooks is very active in his community and church. He is a Youth Leader and Greeter at Liberty Church and participates in the Youth Group activity of feeding the Homeless in Pensacola. He is a reader for Orange Beach Elementary School and volunteers for other Orange Beach and Gulf Shores activities.

Brooks plans to attend Falkner State Community College in the summer and attend Samford in the Fall where he will major in Pre-Law or Political Science. He ultimately hopes to attend law school at the University of Alabama. His true passion is politics where he has lofty goals for office and leadership.

Nicole Wallace and Richard Guyer
​The Gulf Coast Athletic Club honored Gulf Shores High School senior Scholar Athletes Nicole Wallace and Richard Guyer at the Club’s Jan. 21, 2013, meeting. With this recognition, both Nicole and Richard now qualify for the scholarships presented by GCAC to deserving Gulf Shores High School Scholar Athletes at the end of this school year.

Nicole Wallace is an active student at Gulf Shores High School where she maintains a 3.94 GPA while taking Honors and Advanced Placement classes. She is an A-B Honor Roll student and is ranked 23rd in her class of 185 students Her ACT score is 26. Nicole is a member of the National Honor Society, Juniorettes, Pure Club officer, active in Friends of Exceptional Children and Teens Against Animal Cruelty.

Nicole is captain of the varsity softball team and played and lettered in softball her entire high school career. She was 7th in the state for 5A stolen bases as a 9th grader and All-County in the 11th grade. She also lettered in Varsity basketball.  

Nicole is active in her community where she was a softball tournament scorekeeper and soccer official for the City of Gulf Shores. She is a Volunteer for softball camps, Children’s Church, Costal Cleanup, and is active in Vacation Bible School. 

Nicole plans to attend The University of Alabama in the Fall to pursue a degree in Nursing and, ultimately, obtain a master’s degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She is inspired by her grandmother, a nurse for 17 years, but who entered college only after 22 years as a homemaker. Nicole is motivated to be the best caregiver she can possibly be.

Richard Guyer maintains a 3.47 GPA while enrolled in Honors Classes and has a 21 ACT score. He is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, member of Peer Helpers, Peer Leader at Red Ribbon Drug Awareness Carnival from 2010-2012, and is a Teacher and Student Aid. He was voted student with Most School Spirit by his peers.

Richard is a 4 year athlete and 2 year letterman in both basketball and baseball. He was a Basketball and Baseball Clinic Leader for 4 years.

Richard is very active in his community and church, Gulf Shores United Methodist Church. He has been a Youth Leader and Youth Mission team member with mission trips to Quito Ecuador in 2011. He plans to return to Quito Ecuador this summer and continue to help build daycare projects. Richard has been a part of Costal Cleanup for 4 straight years 

Richard is leaving his options open after graduation from Gulf Shores. He wants to attend a  4-year university and possibly play basketball there while pursuing a degree in Political Science or Broadcasting and Communications. He is also considering serving our country as an Officer in the U.S. Air Force. Whatever path Richard decides, he will work hard and certainly succeed.

Each of the following scholar athletes have been recognized and honoured at our Gulf Coast Athletic Club for their individual outstanding performance on the field or court and for their excellence in the classroom. 

Each nominee will be entered into our $3,000 scholarship pool, where our GCAC board of directors will review and vote for one outstanding male and female scholar athlete.

Each winner will receive a minimum $1,500 scholarship.

Nicole Wallace and Brooks Mason
The Gulf Coast Athletic Club recognized the club’s “Scholar Athletes of the Year” and presented its annual scholarships to Gulf Shores High School Senior Scholar Athletes, Nicole Wallace & Brooks Mason at the school’s annual awards night May 17th.  Each received a scholarship from GCAC valued at $2250.00.
